Well it’s been a week now so I finally got around to writing this. Whew, that was alot of fun. I didn’t think I’d get that many points after taking the first weekend of oppohunt off to finish up my yard project, but SE Michigan was a target rich environment for this. We only did 2 big loops. They both mapped out at about at about 5 hours drive time, but due to side hunts getting lost and just having fun. They both took 12 hours to do. I also took the long way home often from work hunting for items known and unknown.
One of our favorite finds was the abandoned Salem airport. After wasting a huge amount of time trying to get to the abandoned Jackson speedway. This felt like a accomplishment.
One of the things I most enjoyed about Oppo hunt was the excuse to see things up close that you’d normally just drive by. Been by that tire a dozen times on the freeway.
Also a great chance to see things I haven’t seen in years. The heidelberg project has changed quite a bit, but the polka dot house still stands.
But the best part was finding new things or stuff you knew about but never bothered to investigate. I had known about the fairy doors of Ann Arbor but never bothered to track any down. We’ll be going back to see if we can find them all.
Lived in SE Michigan all my life and never been to the Guardian building or the Fisher building. Shame on me.
The rest of these are just some of my favorite shots and stops. Thanks to everyone who participated, and a huge Thank you to Dusty for putting this together and putting up with my fumbling attempts at Instagram. This had to be ton of work but I really hope we can do this again.
