The Trash Scooter is ALIVE!!!

I spend some cash and it was still not working. Some electric stuff, valve adjustment (which was fine), new fuel line & filter, and a carburetor. But as the new fuel line and carburetor was installed I noticed fuel in the vacuum side of the line to the petcock. And the scooter would only run at full throttle being jump started and rear tire off the ground to keep it spinning. As soon as I let off the throttle it would bog out and die. Then I ordered a new petcock and had to wait a few days for that to come in. Cue the weekend & a lazy Sunday and I get off my butt and swap them out and sure enough it fires up and idles. WELL DANG!! took a test ride up and down the block and there is something janky with the front steering / suspension as the shaft is loose. I think I just need to tighten the big nut on top as it seemed hand tight.

Today was the first real ride, the 4 mile trip to my work because my car didn’t start yesterday and I had my wife pick me up as she was just heading home from getting groceries.

I dressed in my fleece lined pants, hoodie, pleather jacket, work boots, helmet & gloves. Tie wired on a milk crate to hold the jumper cables that were at the house for jumpstarting the scooter, kick started the scooter and headed into work (I’m off today). It did die at a red light but other than that was fine. More adventure awaits. It got up to 65kph / 40 mph on the flat, so technically it needs plates and such, but I’ll keep it slow.

Called a scooter place here and he is getting shipment of the “49cc no plate needed” plates in a few days so I’ll get one of those for $5.
